Telford Property Market News

A local estate agent is reporting a hugely successful end to 2012 suggesting the Telford housing market is well and truly booming.

Figures released by Nock Deighton’s Telford office revealed that agreed sales in the fourth quarter of 2012 increased by 20% compared to the same period the year previous. The positive results come on the back of strong interest from house hunters in a number of high quality three or four bedroom properties in sought after locations such as Priorslee, Shifnal, Muxton, and Bratton.

Tom Skelley, Office Manager of Nock Deighton’s Telford branch, commented: “We’ve experienced consistently strong sales over the past few months, which demonstrates a real improving confidence amongst buyers. Family homes around the £250,000 price bracket remain our most popular, and we have received a great demand from not only Shropshire house-hunters, but those from Wolverhampton and as far afield as Yorkshire.

“It goes to show, Telford is a particularly buoyant market, as it’s close enough to the town centre that residents have almost immediate access to Telford’s amenities and facilities, but because of its proximity to the M54, it’s also a perfect location for families that work in Birmingham or Wolverhampton who prefer to escape the city for a better quality of life.

“Despite the ‘doom and gloom’ often reported in the national press, the regional property market remains strong, and sellers should be reassured that, as long as they are realistic with their pricing, the demand for quality homes is there. As an example of this, we recently took on a quality five bedroom property in Lake End Drive that had been on the market for six months. By ensuring it was properly priced and promoted, viewings were arranged within days, and a sale completed a few weeks later,” Tom concluded.
