Telford, Ironbridge & Newport Property Market Update: Autumn Activity Picks Up

As autumn begins, the property market is showing signs of renewed activity. For homeowners in Telford, Ironbridge and Newport, buyers are returning after the summer, but with plenty of properties available, pricing remains important.

Rightmove’s latest House Price Index shows the average asking price of a newly listed property rose by 0.7% in September to £367,440 – the first monthly increase since May and slightly above the ten-year September average of 0.5%.

However, sellers still face a competitive market. The number of homes available for sale is at a 12-year high, while buyer demand and sales agreed are both 9% lower than this time last year.

Locally, the West Midlands average asking price is £298,100, up 1.5% annually, with homes taking an average of 64 days to find a buyer. Rightmove also reports that 74% of homes sold this year were priced correctly from the outset without needing a later reduction, highlighting the importance of getting the launch price right.

For sellers in Telford, Ironbridge and Newport, autumn could bring fresh opportunities, but competitive pricing and strong presentation will be key to standing out and attracting serious buyers.
