Preparing for the Autumn Property Market 2026 | Telford, Ironbridge & Newport

As we move into September, the property market is giving buyers across Telford, Ironbridge and Newport more choice – and that means sellers need to think carefully about how their home comes to market.

The latest Rightmove House Price Index shows that the average asking price of a newly listed property fell by 2.0% in August to £364,999, the biggest August drop since 2018. At the same time, the number of homes available for sale is at its highest level for this time of year in 12 years.

For sellers locally, the message is straightforward: price and presentation matter. Whether you're selling a family home in Telford, a character property around Ironbridge or moving within the Newport area, buyers have more properties to compare.

Despite this, there are encouraging signs, too. Rightmove reports that buyer demand has increased by 5% since late July, suggesting the market could gain momentum as we move into autumn.

If you've been waiting through the summer to make your move, September could be a good opportunity to reassess your plans. The right property, presented well and launched at the right price, can still attract strong interest.
