The Shrewsbury Property Market Update | August 2026

The latest Rightmove House Price Index shows average asking prices dipped by 1.0% in August as the market entered its traditional summer period. This is being driven by increased competition between sellers, not by a shortage of buyers.

Across Shrewsbury, buyers remain active, but with more homes available, they have the luxury of taking a little more time before making their move.

This reflects what we're seeing on the ground. As our Sales Director, Hannah Brown, says:

"The local market remains resilient, buyers haven't disappeared – they're simply taking more time because they have more choice."

The average two-year fixed mortgage rate has also fallen to 4.92%, helping to improve affordability and supporting buyer confidence.

Properties that are accurately priced and well-presented continue to stand out from the competition. If you're thinking about moving in Shrewsbury, our local team is here to provide expert advice and help you make your next move with confidence.
