As days out in Kidderminster go, you can’t get much better than a trip on the Severn Valley Railway.
The heritage railway is a fantastic asset to the area, attracting thousands of visitors to our town, which of course has hugely positive knock-on effects for other businesses and the town centre in general.
What’s good for the local economy is good for the property market, and I am delighted to be able to say that Nock Deighton is now an official supporter of the Severn Valley Railway after becoming a corporate partner.
We have estate agent offices at either end of the line, so it seems rather fitting to get involved. Being a corporate partner has mutual benefits – it means we help support the SVR and in return we can use the railway’s fantastic facilities to entertain our staff and clients.
I was lucky enough to have a trip from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth last May, and it was a really wonderful experience with great views and interesting stops along the way.
With nine operational steam locomotives and the opportunity to visit the Engine Room which takes you on a fascinating ‘behind the scenes’ journey, I really got to understand a bit more about what it takes to run the trains. It provides a fantastic learning opportunity for apprentices, and we met one young trainee who will no doubt have a successful career in engineering thanks to the skills he is learning at the SVR.
It was a great day and with the variety of special events going on throughout 2019, I would thoroughly recommend going for a visit if you haven’t been recently. People come from miles around, so us locals should make the most of it too!
